Bush Clinton Bush Clinton? Not so fast. The true Clinton formula has been staring us in the face all along.

It was eight years of a Republican in Reagan followed by four years of a Republican in Bush ‘41.  Then a Clinton stole the ball and ran with it for eight years for the Democrats.

Then, there was eight years of a Republican in Bush ‘43.  If the algorhythm holds true for the Clintons, it will be four years of a Republican in McCain.  The logic would suggest that another Clinton will steal the ball and run with it for eight years for the Democrats.

Stranger things have happened.

Could someone please go give Jimmy Carter a hug and point him back to Plains? At last report, the former president was seen wandering aimlessly near the West Bank sharing hugs with Hamas.

“I’m not a negotiator. I’m just trying to understand different opinions and provide communication between people,” Carter said. Try this, Mr. President — Go get a nice bicycle. Replete with a bell. Land a courier job in the big city.

I honor Jimmy Carter for his amazing sweat equity and positive impact upon Habitat for Humanity. It is, however, a reckless act that Carter has committed by stepping onto such delicate soil without the blessings of the current administration in Washington. Could this be but a preview of future activities on the world stage should a Democrat occupy the Oval Office?

Perhaps it is time to bone-up on Detente and other Hits of the 70s?

Senator McCain presented his reaction to Senator Obama’s comments that we talked about in the prior Bill-O’-Notes® post.

“During the Great Depression, with many millions of Americans out of work and the country suffering the worst economic crisis in our history, there rose from small towns, rural communities, inner cities, a generation of Americans who fought to save the world from despotism and mass murder, and came home to build the wealthiest, strongest and most generous nation on earth.

“They suffered the worst during the Depression, but it did not shake their faith in, and fidelity to, America. They did not turn to their religious faith and cultural traditions out of resentment and a feeling of powerlessness to affect the course of government or pursue prosperity. On the contrary, their faith had given generations of their families’ purpose and meaning, as it does today.”

Sorry Obama, Karl Marx beat you to that one. Barack Obama effectively explained-away why small-town America holds God and guns so dear –

“And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

Barack, is God and guns purely a knee-jerk palliative to a collective bitterness, anger, and the peoples’ contrasting melanin levels? If so, the converse would mean that people could release and eliminate their “clinging” to God as well as to the Second Amendment once a President Obama were to deliver full employment and a bitter-free huge cultural salad of acceptance and affirmation.

Here now, the latest Elton John lyrics — “I’m amazed by the misogynistic attitudes of some of the people in this country.” Has no beat and you can’t dance to it.

The washed-up pop star, in all his corpulence, parked his lard-butt in front of a piano to honor Hillary Clinton at Radio City Music Hall where $2.5M was hauled in. Sadly, the former entertainer let words, not just lyrics, fall out of his mouth.

Who can not feel just a little bad for a person who gave up the duck suit for black spandex and rhinestones? But enough about Hillary.

…who showed up on Letterman, did the job, and then exited stage right.

It is of no minor note that Paul Schaeffer and the band played McCain in and out with “Soldier Boy.” When the American voter enters the booth in November, he or she will do a gut-check that will bring to fore the most basic of needs, that of personal and collective safety.

What John McCain’s drop-in on Letterman’s show proves is while the Democrats are yelling at super-delegates in back rooms, the sole GOP contender is doing something that constituents sorely need now, getting people to lighten up.

Scarborough v. Maddow. Once in awhile a good piece of back-and-forth punditry is worthy of a second look. I have to hand it to Air America radio host, Rachel Maddow in this fine interchange with Joe Scarborough on the topic of John McCain’s proximity to the right. Major wedgie action for poor Joe on this one….

Word on the street is that Boston’s CBS affiliate, heritage station WBZ-TV, is cutting twenty-six (26) positions from the news station in this top 10 market. This certainly is in line with reported WBBM-TV Chicago’s high profile cuts. WBBM is CBS’s Chicago affiliate.

There is a bit more to the WBZ-TV story that you may not hear anyplace else. They have decided to cut out every-other-word from the news copy. That will reduce news to 15 minutes. Also, they can merge sports with weather and business with sports. Great for bookies and sports fans with umbrellas. They will be replacing their theme package with a kazoo and a slide-whistle. And wait, there’s more — they are moving their studios to the YMCA. The new talent (a former janitor named Hal) will also control the camera joysticks right there from the set.

The sales department will remain unaffected.
